Morello has developed a system for the maintenance of armoured military vehicles such as the Superav – Amphibious Armoured Vehicle, the Centauro – Armoured Fighting Vehicle, the VBM Freccia, the Dardo IFV and the VBTP – amphibious armoured vehicle and the Ariete.
Morello armoured vehicle lifting systems are used by many of the most important armies around the world for their in-house vehicle maintenance programmes where it is not possible to raise extremely heavy vehicles using any other method.
The use of this system, for which Morello owns the know-how and intellectual property, has spread rapidly thanks to its great versatility and flexibility. While the robust system is capable of lifting extremely heavy loads, the system is in fact portable and requires only one operator. Iveco Defence Vehicles has supplied the system to its clients together with the delivery of newly ordered vehicles such as the Superav – Amphibious Armoured Vehicle, the Centauro – Armoured Fighting Vehicle, the VBM Freccia, the Dardo IFV and the VBTP – amphibious armoured vehicle and the Ariete.
The lifting system is composed of 4 telescopic cylinders managed by a special hydraulic control unit, which can lift vehicles weighing up to 80 tonnes (176,000 lbs) in a perfectly level horizontal movement. Once the armoured vehicle has been raised using the hydraulic supports, 4 fixed supports, supplied with the system, are placed in position below the vehicle. All equipment, from the hydraulic cylinders, to the control unit and the fixed supports, are equipped with roller wheels so they may be moved and positioned easily by a single operator.
