Electric trucks
Description
One of Morello’s core areas of expertise is designing and manufacturing unique electric platform trucks with battery or hybrid-powered engines, tailored to specific operational needs. Our customized heavy-duty electric vehicles are ideal for handling large, heavy, and non-standard cargo on-site for manufacturing companies worldwide.
The growing concern over pollution caused by diesel vehicles has led to increased oversight and even restrictions on on-site material handling, both indoors in warehouses and outdoors in industrial areas. In line with modern requirements, Morello offers a wide range of heavy-duty electric vehicles, including platform trucks and trolleys, available in fully electric (battery-powered) or hybrid solutions.
BATTERY-POWERED ELECTRIC TRUCKS
Battery-powered ride-on transporters utilize alternating current electric motors, featuring PLC management and advanced inverters powered by one or more batteries mounted on the electric trucks.
Key advantages of fully electric flatbed transporters over their diesel counterparts include:
- Zero emissions: allowing flexible use indoors and outdoors
- Cost savings: significant reductions in consumption compared to diesel
- Low maintenance: minimal upkeep required
- Extended lifespan: easy and cost-effective electric motor replacement
- Reduced noise pollution: quieter operation
- Automation potential: opportunities for automation.
Our heavy-duty electric vehicles can be equipped with various battery types, ranging from classic lead-acid to advanced lithium batteries.
The adoption of lithium batteries, in particular, has driven the popularity of battery-powered trucks. With fast charging times (as little as an hour with advanced lithium-ion cells) and the option for quick “top-up” charging (similar to bottle feeding), these batteries enable battery-powered coil trucks to handle demanding work cycles that do not allow for extended charging breaks. By carefully sizing the batteries and planning charging intervals, our electric trucks can operate continuously, 24/7.
HYBRID TRUCKS
Hybrid systems offer a remarkably flexible solution for electric platform trucks, combining the pollution-free benefits of battery operation with the autonomy of diesel vehicles. Morello’s hybrid ride-on transporters can operate solely on battery power or with the diesel engine, allowing operators to switch between battery (completely emission-free) and diesel power with a simple selector switch. This flexibility is particularly valuable for tasks that require both indoor and outdoor operations, providing extensive autonomy that is difficult to achieve with battery-only solutions.
Morello’s electric flatbed transporters are equipped with alternating current electric traction motors managed by a PLC and inverter, ensuring low maintenance and high reliability, key features of Morello’s production. These electric platform trucks offer an excellent alternative to hydraulic motors, which come with high maintenance costs, environmental concerns, and lower reliability.
Morello’s extensive expertise allows us to design and manufacture heavy-duty electric vehicles tailored to our customers’ needs, with customization available in nearly every aspect. Customization options are often necessary for transporting molds and coils, requiring trucks with saddles suited for coil transport or reinforced frames for holding molds.
In addition to trucks designed for coil and mold transportation, Morello offers electric material handling trucks for various industries, including steel mills, foundries, aerospace, nuclear, energy, aluminium, oil & gas sectors, and others requiring heavy-duty on-site transportation.
Morello’s electric platform trucks, equipped with PLCs, inverters, and electronic sensors, are perfectly suited for complete automation of industrial material handling. On request, our heavy-duty electric vehicles can be supplied in AGV versions, prepared for future automation.
